Combatting chemotherapy and radiotherapy-induced hair loss: innovative ice cap solutions
Undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy often means dealing with their side effects. One common question is, “How fast does hair grow back after chemo?” During such treatments, you may experience a hot or itchy scalp, leading to loss, depression, psychological stress, and a decline in the quality of life. Looking for ways to encourage hair regrowth? Our anti-hair loss ice cap with a gel pack (perfect for both chemotherapy and radiotherapy) could significantly help reduce or alleviate hair loss.
Each anti-hair loss ice cap comes with five reusable gel packs and a specially designed inner bag. The gel pack, once frozen, can be inserted into the ice cap. This might provide a cooling and soothing effect on the scalp and minimize the side effects of chemotherapy or hair loss from radiotherapy.
Harnessing the power of cold therapy: a novel approach to minimize hair loss during cancer treatments
Wondering how fast does hair grow after post-chemo? Our anti-hair loss ice cap with gel packs (ideal for chemotherapy and radiotherapy) can cool the scalp before, during, and after treatments. This cooling action constricts the scalp’s blood vessels, reducing the amount of chemotherapy or radiotherapy drugs reaching the hair follicles. This could help lessen drug damage and ease hair loss.

Usage method: the perfect guide to cold compress therapy and heat compress therapy
Step-by-step guide to cold therapy:
- Begin by placing the gel ice pack in the freezer set to -15.5°C for around 2 hours.
- Then, insert the chilled gel pack into the compartment of a specially designed ice cap for head application.
Step-by-step guide to heat therapy:
- To use the gel pack for heat therapy, microwave it on medium power for 30 seconds.
- If additional heat is required, increase in increments of 5 seconds, but it’s advised not to exceed a total heating time of 60 seconds for safety reasons.
Temperature control recommendations:
- For cold therapy, maintain the scalp’s internal or subcutaneous temperature around 18-22°C.
- After chemotherapy infusion, keeping the scalp cooled for at least 45 minutes is recommended.
- For treatment plans involving anthracycline drugs (common in the treatment of acute leukaemia, lymphomas, breast cancer, stomach cancer, soft tissue sarcoma, and ovarian cancer), cooling times of at least 90 minutes are recommended.
- During and post-chemotherapy infusion cooling periods, consider replacing the ice cap 3 to 4 times or once every 25 minutes to maintain a stable temperature.
- For migraine cold/heat therapy, limit each session to 15-20 minutes, with repetition as needed. This helps alleviate headaches or relieve tense muscles.
- Do not store the gel ice pack below 0°C for over an hour to prevent the contents from freezing solid.
Storage method:
- When not in use, the ice cap can be stored in a plastic bag.
Through here, you can gain comprehensive insights on correctly applying cold and heat therapy to alleviate discomfort from various conditions. Remember to adjust based on personal circumstances and consult professional medical advice before adopting any new treatment methods.
Remarks:
- Please note that we offer two different colours and shapes of ice cap gel packs*. The grey version with 5 ice gel packs features a transparent appearance with a sky-blue gel inside, resembling the shape of a cashew. If frequent replacement is needed, you can purchase the specialized medical ice cap gel pack separately. As for the purple version, it includes a total of 6 ice gel packs which present a deep purple-blue colour and are designed in a rectangular shape, without the option to buy separately. Cancer patients can choose the suitable ice cap based on their own needs and preferences, which also facilitates easy identification and replacement.
